KbPort LLC Donates Cargo Van to CARE412 to Support Food and Supply Redistribution for Pittsburgh’s Marginalized Communities
Pittsburgh, PA, October 2024 – KbPort LLC, a global leader in medical simulation technology headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, has donated a Chevy Express cargo van to Community Angel Resource Exchange (CARE412), a regional, 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to reducing food insecurity and resource waste in the greater Pittsburgh area. CARE412, founded by Valerie Angell in 2023, serves marginalized community members through its CARE Box Program, which redistributes thousands of pounds of rescued food to those in need.
The van will significantly enhance CARE412’s ability to collect food and supplies from regional donors, including Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe’s, La Gourmandine, Sunfresh Foods, Steel Reel Catering, Outreached Arms, Giant Eagle, Georgie’s Bakery, Allegro Hearth Bakery, UPMC Mercy Hospital, Panera Bread, Mediterra, and Pamela’s Diner.
As a company deeply committed to innovation and community support, KbPort LLC has been at the forefront of medical simulation technology for over 25 years. By donating the van, KbPort™ is helping CARE412 expand its reach and better serve the Pittsburgh region, furthering its mission of reducing resource insecurity.
Empowering Community Efforts Through Key Resources
“We are proud to support CARE412 in their fight against food insecurity and resource waste,” said Chuck Miller, President and CEO of KbPort LLC. “The work they do is vital to our community, and we hope this donation helps streamline their operations, enabling them to better provide for our region’s growing number of individuals and families in need. As a company, we strive to support initiatives that create a meaningful impact, and CARE412 is doing just that.”
The Chevy Express cargo van will be used by CARE412 to refine their food and supply donation pickups from key regional partners, allowing the nonprofit to expand its CARE Box Program, which currently serves 70 individual participants and thousands of regional community members through key partnerships with regional nonprofits serving similar community members in different areas of the region. With the support of 412 Food Rescue and over 40 other regional nonprofit organizations, church organizations, and community leaders, CARE412 redistributes healthy, edible food to thousands of Pittsburgh’s marginalized residents each week.
“We are incredibly thankful to KbPort™ for this generous gift,” said Valerie Angell, Founder & President of CARE412. “This van will make an immediate impact on our ability to pick up donated supplies across the region. Thanks to KbPort™, we can increase our reach and efficiency, ensuring that no food goes to waste and more people receive the help they need.”
